After some tense moments between my concrete guys, LA Foundations, and the Weld County Building Inspector, he gave us the go ahead to pour the concrete. It seems they couldn't quit agree as to the proper way to suspend the #4 rebar in the concrete--the inspector didn't like it tied to nails and perpendicular supports, however, Alonzo assured him this has been his common practice for 15 plus years. After working it all out (1 hour later), the actual pour went very smoothly and we'll be forming up walls tomorrow and Friday with the hopes of pouring them next Monday.

Breaking Ground
Well we finally did it--kind of. After 9 months of planning, drawing, revising, redrawing, replanning, re-drawing etc., we broke ground on our new house on Wednesday, March 17th--Saint Patricks day! Attached you will find some pictures of "the site" and the earth that has been moved thus far. We'll try to keep you up to date with the major happenings of this project. Please feel free to comment and respond to what you see.
The final product (hopefully completed by later this fall), will be a 2500 square foot ranch built slab on grade with a loft looking into the greatroom above the kitchen. The detached garage and shop will be semi-attached via an open breezeway.
